Before you write: run the doctor

Most problems are a missing or mismatched prerequisite, and RiverProbe can name it exactly.

  1. Right-click the RiverProbe icon in the system tray and choose Diagnostics, or run RiverProbe doctor in a terminal.
  2. Fix anything marked missing; each line says what to install and how.
  3. Still stuck? Send us the doctor output, your RiverProbe version and, if a test failed, the failure report. The service log is at %LOCALAPPDATA%\RiverProbe\service.log.

Never send passwords or other secrets. Doctor output, failure reports and the service log do not contain them, but check any screenshots before you attach them.

Licence keys

Where is my key?

It is shown on the page right after payment. Lost it? Use recover my key with the e-mail you used and the order number (starts with txn_) from your Paddle receipt.

How do I enter it?

Open RiverProbe, choose License in the left menu, paste the key and choose Install key. On the command line: RiverProbe license install <key>. Check with RiverProbe license status.

Can I use it on more than one computer?

Yes. A Pro key is for one person, on all the computers that person uses (for example a desktop and a laptop). Colleagues need their own keys.

What happens after the year of updates?

Nothing stops working. Your key keeps unlocking Pro in every version released during your update year, forever. Versions released later run as the free Community edition until you buy an upgrade key; RiverProbe tells you this clearly and never removes your projects.

Is there a subscription?

No. You pay once. We never charge you again unless you choose to buy another key.

Refunds

30-day money-back promise; see refunds.

Common problems

"Chrome version ... did not match ChromeDriver version ..."

Your browser updated but the generated project pins an older driver. Update the Selenium packages in the generated project or regenerate it; the failure report names both versions and the command to run.

"Port 5199 is already used by another program"

RiverProbe picks the next free port automatically and the tray icon opens the right address. To choose a port yourself, set RP_PORT, for example $env:RP_PORT = '5200', then start RiverProbe again.

A secret is missing when the tests run

The message names the secret, for example RP_SECRET_ACCOUNT_PASSWORD, the file that uses it, and the two ways to set it: an environment variable, or a Windows Credential Manager entry named RiverProbe/ACCOUNT_PASSWORD.

Generated tests do not build

Install the .NET 10 SDK from Microsoft, then run dotnet test in the generated project folder. The doctor reports the SDK version it finds.

Android recording does not start (Pro)

The doctor checks the Android SDK, adb, a running emulator or connected phone, Java and the Appium server with the UiAutomator2 driver, and says which one is missing.

Windows SmartScreen warns about the installer

Choose More info, then Run anyway. Check the SHA-256 on the download section first if you want to be sure the file is ours.

Uninstalling

Use Settings → Apps → Installed apps → RiverProbe → Uninstall. Your workspace (%LOCALAPPDATA%\RiverProbe) is kept so you can reinstall without losing projects; delete that folder yourself if you want it gone.
